How To Transition Your Wardrobe For Fall

The start of September has me wanting to whip out the fall clothes! Except, sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t get the memo and the weather is still blazing hot during the first 2-3 weeks of the month (as I’m writing this, it’s current 32 degrees, feeling like 42 degrees!). Weather co-operating aside, it still doesn’t dampen my mood of wanting to feel all lovey dovey about fall outfits. It might be too early to start whipping out the jackets and knit sweaters, but if you’re like me and ready to swap out your summer pieces for fall, here are some tips to look fall ready, while still keeping cool during the day and cozy at night!

1. Kimonos & Light Sweaters

A great way to feel cool during the day yet cozy at night is to layer on a kimono or light sweater. It’s a great piece to take on and off and it’s light and flowey fabrics won’t make you break a sweat. Try finding ones with fun patterns and colours. I love this one from Cove & Covet! The floral patterns has so many colours I can match depending on the my mood and the season. I can pull out the pinks during the spring/summer months and match with the orange and rusts colours during the fall. So perfect for this time of year!

2. Culotte Pants

I probably own a pair of culotte pants in almost every fall colour. Culottes are so flattering and is great for both work and play. I live in culottes almost year round and it’s one of my go-to for the fall. You can wear it with sandals and flats during the warmer months then pair it with sock boots or booties during the fall. It’s super comfortable, sleek, and weather appropriate.

3. Blazers

Another great fall transitional piece are blazers. If you’re not ready to give up the summery colours yet, blazers are a great way to make that statement. Think a pink blazer with jeans and flats for casual Fridays at work! It gives you that summer colour palette in a fall ensemble. Or you can go menswear inspired and wear plaids prints and blazers with elbow patches for that back to school look.

4. Midi Skirts & Maxi Dresses

The long length of midi skirts and maxi dresses is perfect for those in between climates. The flowey silhouette looks effortlessly chic and it looks amazing paired with sandals or sock boots. Love!

5. Autumn Colours

If you’re not planning to spend a lot to update your wardrobe for fall, a great way to look fall ready is to wear fall colours. Think mustard yellow, rust orange, burgundy and tan!
